There’s something about the sound of the spattering, drops of rain, on the roof. The sequential drops of water splashing from the side of the window. The smell of the earth. The smell of potential. The smell of a second chance.
A break from life is always recommended. For retrospection, for clarity in our direction of life. For restoration. But when do you know when you’ve taken it a tad bit too far?
As a child, my mama showed me these beautiful, petite flowers that bear the name “forget-me-not” I often wondered if they were named so because they were gifted to those that walked out of our lives. Friends, lovers, loved ones….were those tiny, blue, flowers a representation of lost love and friendship, or were they the representation of the will power to walk away from that which was not meant for you?
